TOPIC: SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH THROUGH THE ANOINTING (Part 2)
Text: Isaiah 10:27 (NKJV)
MINISTER: Rev. Dr. Sam Oye
|
Isaiah 10:27 (NKJV) — “It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” |
SERIES CONTEXT
This message is Part 2 of the series on Supernatural Breakthrough. Through the Anointing, continuing directly from the first service. The teaching deepens the exploration of yokes — what they are, how they operate, and how they are destroyed — while expanding into the nature of the anointing, the call to national and political engagement, and the personal application of yoke-breaking.
OPENING PROPHETIC DECLARATION
The service opened with a declaration from 1 Kings 18:1–4 — the account of Elijah and the famine in Samaria. The preacher declared:
RECAP: WHAT IS A YOKE?
The Hebrew word for yoke is “OL” and the Greek is “zugos.” A yoke is a wooden instrument used to join animals together for control, direction, and labour.
A yoke is anything — any tool, device, or person — used to:
A YOKE IS THE SPIRIT OF BONDAGE THAT KEEPS A PERSON RESTRICTED, OPPRESSED, ENSLAVED, AND DRAINED OF STRENGTH.
SIGNS THAT A YOKE IS OPERATING
Many people are not lazy — they are just yoked. Many are not empty or giftless — they are just yoked.
THE 21ST CENTURY YOKE: YOUR DEVICE
The latest yoke is not always a spiritual entity — it can be a physical tool. God created trees; mankind used wood to make yokes. Similarly, mobile phones and devices have a legitimate purpose, but they have become powerful instruments of control for many:
WHAT IS THE ANOINTING?
The anointing is not a general sensation or religious emotion — it is a specific empowerment for a specific purpose.
Key Scriptures:
Types of Anointing Identified:
Being trained in communication is not the same as being anointed to preach. Training enhances; the anointing empowers. The anointing always comes toward a specific end.

“The anointing is not for carrying’s sake — if the anointing is on your life, it is for a purpose.” — Rev Sam Oye |
THE ANOINTING TO RULE: DAVID’S EXAMPLE
David did not join a political party or campaign for office. He carried only one thing: the anointing for the throne. God orchestrated the collapse of every opposing structure until the entire nation — first Judah, then all twelve tribes of Israel — came to David and said, “You are our king.”
Key Lesson: If you are anointed for something, God will work it out. It is a matter of time.
THE CALL TO NATIONAL ENGAGEMENT
One of the most stirring portions of the message was a direct charge to Christians to stop praying from the sidelines and actively enter the arenas of society:
Application: Identify the arena you are called to infiltrate. Step into it with the anointing, not just ambition.
LEADERSHIP AS A YOKE: THE NIGERIAN CONTEXT
Rev Sam addressed the Nigerian economic and leadership crisis directly, drawing a parallel to the 3-year famine in Elijah’s time and Nigeria’s 3 years of economic hardship under the current government:
Decree: The yoke of corrupt leadership over Nigeria will not be transferred to the next generation. This yoke must be destroyed.
TYPES OF YOKES (SUMMARY)
THE YOKE OF CHRIST: THE ONE YOKE TO TAKE
Jesus said: “Take my yoke upon you” (Matthew 11:29). This is the only yoke you are invited — not forced — to carry.
The adversary’s yoke is placed by force. The yoke of Christ is taken by choice.
Reject every yoke that poverty, fear, or habit has placed on your neck. Poverty should not tell you where to eat, what to buy, or how to give. Break it by acting on God’s Word.
THE YOKE OF FINANCIAL LIMITATION
Rev Sam shared a personal testimony: in 2008/2009, God instructed him to give $1,000 — nearly all his savings at the time. In obedience, he gave. That act of faith was his turning point. Shortly after, he was invited to the United States, all expenses paid, and returned with far more than he had given.
Application: Yokes don’t leave until you hate them. First, hate the yoke. Then, act in the opposite spirit. Give generously. Refuse to let poverty set the terms of your obedience.

“Yokes don’t leave until you hate them. The first thing is to hate the yoke — this thing regulating my life. That is the beginning of your deliverance.” — Rev Sam Oye |
YOUR ACTION STEPS THIS WEEK

Closing Declaration — “I am yoke-free. I reject every yoke of poverty, limitation, fear, and generational bondage. As I show myself before the King of Kings, let there be rain upon my land, my business, my family, and the works of my hands. The anointing is upon me. The yoke is destroyed. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.” |
