How Faith Works (cont.)

Rev (Dr.) Sam Oye

Romans 4: 17-22 (MSG)

We call Abraham ‘father’ not because he got God’s attention by living like a saint, but because God made something out of Abraham when he was a nobody. Isn’t that what we’ve always read in Scripture, God saying to Abraham, ‘I set you up as father of many peoples’? Abraham was first named ‘father’ and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life, with a word make something out of nothing. When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do. And so he was made father of a multitude of peoples. God himself said to him, ‘You’re going to have a big family, Abraham! ‘Abraham didn’t focus on his own impotence and say, ‘It’s hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child.” Nor did he survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up. He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what he had said.’”

The only thing that makes you get result in the Kingdom of God is faith. The Bible says without faith; it is impossible to please God.

Faith is not a calling, ministry, denomination, group, movement, era, feeling or doctrine.

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. “

Faith, from the scripture, is the substance of things we hope for. Why do you hope and end up getting nothing? Possibly, it is because they are not substantiated; in other words, your hope lacks substance. If there is something you are hoping for, the only ground for it to come to pass is that it should have substance.

What is substance? In the Greek language, it is called ‘hypostasis’ meaning ‘foundation’ or ‘substructure’.

Matthew 7:27(KJV)

”…and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.“

Usually, whenever we hope for something and not get it, it can be because our hope is standing on nothing. Concerning everything we hope for, find a Word of God for it because that is the foundation that carries our hope into the time of fulfilment.

When you have a word from God, find a Word of God to support the word from God. For example, when dealing with financial issues, you find what God says in His word about finances and prosperity.

Faith is the foundation upon which we stand to say what we say. Our substance is the word and that is the promise from the Word of God. This means that faith is standing on the promises of God and speaking based on those same promises. If you insist on what the Word of God says, you will see what the Word promises.

How does hope becomes reality?

What you hope for must have a scripture you stand on. Hope is dashed because it has no foundation. In other words, it has no substance. Let God’s word form your world and let your actions be in alignment with your declarations.
