Text: Luke 10:30-36
Topic: Positioning Yourself for the Marvelous Help of God.
During the first service, we established that God helps marvelously, God helps extraordinarily. But there are things you do to attract this help of God. There are buttons you press to activate God’s help. This is why it is not everybody that attracts the fullness of God’s help, and it is all about positioning, it is all about doing the right things. The first thing you must do to attract the help of God, to activate the help of God is that you must put your trust in God and in God alone.
If you trust something else outside God, you will shut down the help of God. You cannot trust charm and expect to see God’s help. You cannot trust God and trust your connection and expect to see the fullness of God’s help. You can’t trust God and trust your bank account or your business and expect to see the fullness of God’s help. The moment you trust anything else, be it your account balance, be it your status, be it your family, be it your company, anything else you trust beside God will short down the help of God. Jeremiah 17:5– Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his [a]strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord.
As we have been taught, every man that helps you is a channel, only God is the source. The moment you are trusting in something else, you have cut off the supply from God, the source will dry up. Let you trust be in God such that anything God will not do, let it remain undone. I refuse to bow to anything else so that I can access the pleasure of the world. They refuse to bow, and they did not burn, if you refuse to bow, you will not burn. The same power that shut the mouth of lions such that they could not hurt Daniel, that power is still alive. (Daniel 6). Esther said, ‘if I perish, I perish’ and yet did not perish. How long can you trust God? Because some of you will trust God only when it is convenient. Even when Job was almost dying, he refused to compromise his trust in God. Then, do not trust in anything else. Provided you do not trust in anything or anyone else, you will still see the help of God.
Proverbs 21:31– The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But deliverance is of the Lord. Your safety is only guaranteed in God. Let me tell you something, like in our text, if you are waiting for help from someone you expect, you may wait forever. Most time the people that God uses to help you are people who do not like you, who you do not like. Through the help of God, you can receive help from anyone at any time.
