Escape from Unrepentant Pursuers/Enemies 2
By Pst Sunday Adebamiro
Exodus 14: 5-16
We started a discussion in the First Service about unrepentant enemies or pursuers. These are enemies that would continue to follow you, fight you and oppress you, no matter how long it takes. Unrepentant enemies do not have lifespan for their affliction or oppression. As long as they have breath, are in position, have influence, resources, they would continue to deal with their victim. Some people have maintained strained relationship with an old classmate that even 30 years later, on the class WhatsApp group, both can simply not agree despite doing everything possible.
Unrepentant pursuers or enemies do not release their victims willingly except the victims become aggressive, reckless and say ‘enough is enough’.
Genesis 24:7b But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck. This suggests that there are yokes that would never be broken as long as you are comfortable. There are things that would continue in the form of oppression, affliction, discrimination, suppression, injustice until you say you have had enough. Know that the oppression has continued this far because you allowed it. Sometimes, it is difficult for people to keep you perpetually under oppression without your cooperation. And what happens is that, when oppression continues for so long, the victim settles for it. They start to accept it as a status quo. Even when God was trying to deliver the children of Israel, they were still referring back to Egypt; their minds had been messed up. They now have a mentality corrupted by slavery that even when there is freedom, they were still thinking of slavery. Until people refuse to accept oppression, the unrepentant pursuers would never give up on their evil.
As long as everyone remains under bondage, oppressors will be free but the moment you try to break free, oppressors would mount a spirited attempt at keeping you oppressed. I pray for you that every unrepentant enemy oppressing you shall be unseated in Jesus’ name. They never change their minds about their victims until a stronger power of force intervenes.
How to handle Unrepentant Enemies
Do not be emotional. Accept the reality of the battle you are faced with, stay strong and face the battle squarely. This also means you must live circumspectly and be above board so that the enemy does not trap you by your wrong steps.
Do not underestimate the commitment of an unrepentant enemy/pursuer to your fall or destruction.
Do not use their weapon, their style or approach. Unrepentant enemies tend to fight really dirty. In this wise, live circumspectly.
After playing your part by fulfilling the conditions listed before now, hand over the matter to God. Let Him who is greater, He who is mightier step into your battle and fight for you. Isaiah 49:24-25 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?  But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
Give Him your battle to fight; let Him contend with your oppressors for your liberty and freedom. You do that in prayer.
