Thanksgiving Sunday — First Service | 7 June 2026
TOPIC: SUPERNATURAL PROVISION THROUGH DIVINE DIRECTION
Text: 1 Kings 17:1–9 (NKJV) | Psalm 23:1 (KJV) | Psalm 67:5 (KJV) | Romans 8:14 (NKJV)
MINISTER: REV SAM OYE
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE — 1 KINGS 17:1–9
| 1 Kings 17:1–4, 8–9 (New King James Version — NKJV)
And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” … Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” … Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” |
CORE TRUTH 1: SUPPLY IS LOCATION-BOUND
| There is a place called THERE. If you are not THERE, the supply is not there either. |
God commanded the ravens to feed Elijah — but only at Cherith. When the brook dried up, God redirected him to Zarephath, where a widow was already commanded to provide for him. The provision was not released into the air for anyone to find — it was tied to a specific location, activated by a specific instruction.
Modern implications:
- You can be in America, London, or Canada and suffer lack if you are not supposed to be there.
- You can be the CEO of a fintech company and still be broke if that is not your assigned field.
- You can build and sell houses and thrive — if that is where you are supposed to be.
- The problem is never whether God can provide. The question is: are you in your ‘there’?
| Lack is location-bound. Thriving is ‘there’-bound. If everybody is selling something because that is what is working, and you join them, that is the reason it will not work for you — because that might not be your ‘there’.

THE GLOBAL AND NIGERIAN ECONOMIC CONTEXT
Rev Sam situates the message in the economic realities of our time:
- Major tech companies have laid off 30,000 and 17,000 employees in a single day, with no retirement benefits for some workers after 18–28 years of service.
- US government agencies and embassies are being shut down. Some Americans are now adjusting to one meal a day.
- Canada has been announced to be in recession. The UK has its own troubles.
- In Nigeria: the World Bank estimates 63% of a population of 243 million are experiencing financial hardship. In a church of 1,000 members, approximately 633 may be dealing with financial crisis.
- A healthy diet in Nigeria now costs approximately ₦1,541 per person per day — roughly ₦46,230 per month. With a minimum wage of ₦70,000, nearly two-thirds of earnings go to food alone, before rent, school fees, medical billsor other expenses.
| Nigerians are worth being celebrated. We are resilient. We are rugged. We are innovative, creative, dynamic, and amazing. Nigerians will outlive whoever the politicians are. We will see a better day for this country.
— Rev Sam Oye |
The conclusion: common sense and human intelligence are not enough for this season. What is required is supernatural wisdom — divine sense — spiritual intelligence that connects you to the mind of God.
| When systems fail, God remains faithful. When economies are shaken, the economy of heaven remains dependable. The question is not whether God can provide. The question is: will you obey when God gives you instruction?
— Rev Sam Oye |
CORE TRUTH 2: GOD’S PROVISIONS ARE ALWAYS HIDDEN IN HIS INSTRUCTIONS
| Every instruction from God carries your provision, protection, preservation, and divine connections. |
The central principle of the message:
- God’s provision is not released independently of His instruction — it is hidden inside the instruction.
- When you receive a divine instruction, do not look at the instruction — look at the potential it carries.
- Every instruction carries: PROVISION • PROTECTION • PRESERVATION • CONNECTION.
Biblical examples:
- Elijah at Cherith: “Go there” — and the ravens will feed you THERE.
- Elijah at Zarephath: “Arise, go” — and I have already commanded the widow THERE.
- The Wedding at Cana (John 2:7, KJV): “Fill the waterpots with water.” They needed wine, not water — but the instruction held the miracle.
- The widow’s oil (2 Kings 4:3, KJV): “Gather vessels, not a few.” Gather empty pots — an instruction that made no human sense but carried a miracle inside it.
- Peter on the water (Matthew 14:29, KJV): “Come.” The word that instructed Peter was the same word that sustained him. The word sustains whom the word instructs.
| What will destroy the power of divine instruction is human consideration. Those who see the miraculous do not logicalise divine instruction. Your life will not have testimonies of divine manifestations if you are the type that always logicalises divine instruction.
— Rev Sam Oye |
The mother of Jesus gave the clearest framework for responding to divine instruction:
| John 2:5 (New King James Version — NKJV)
His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” |
Don’t process it with friends. Don’t run it through ChatGPT or Gemini or Claude. Don’t logicalise it. Whatever He says to you — just do it.
CORE TRUTH 3: DIVINE SENSE SURPASSES ALL HUMAN INTELLIGENCE
There is no form of human intelligence that rivals spiritual intelligence:
- Positive Intelligence, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence, Adaptive Intelligence — all human intelligences combined do not rival divine intelligence.
- The less-educated person who hears God may have greater results than the person with degrees from the world’s best universities.
- Spiritual intelligence is the capacity to connect to God and have His mind downloaded into yours, establishing a visible difference on earth.
| Romans 8:14 (New King James Version — NKJV)
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. |
| The voice of God is your advantage this month. My greatest achievements in life have come from listening to His voice. My greatest pains and regrets have come from moments when I did not listen to His voice.

PASTORAL TESTIMONIES: FOLLOWING THE VOICE TO ‘THERE’
TESTIMONY 1 — THE GEOLOGIST WHO BECAME A PRINT MILLIONAIRE
Rev Sam recounted the story of a church member — a trained and practising geologist — who consistently encountered setbacks: drilling machines breaking mid-project, police station visits, financial losses. In prayer, God told Rev Sam: “He is not a geologist. Tell him I will prosper him in printing.”
The word was delivered to the man and his wife. Despite it making no human sense, the wife — whose trust in the pastor’s word was firm — supported the transition. He began with a small printing store in a basement corner with no windows at the Arts and Culture area of Abuja. The word spoken over that shop: “This is not the place — you are starting here, but this is not the place.”
Step by step, God expanded him. The business skyrocketed by every standard into a multi-million naira enterprise. He moved from living in Pyakassa, through Chika and Karu areas, to owning his own house in Garki. That geologist found his ‘there’ — not through logic, but through obedience to a divine instruction.
TESTIMONY 2 — THE GEOLOGIST STUDENT’S THESIS DEFENSE
As a student at the University of Ibadan, Rev Sam was assigned a geology thesis project requiring equipment that was broken or unavailable across every institution in Nigeria — public and private. By the third week before his defense, he was only on Chapter 3.
Despite his supervisor urging him not to appear (“This is not about God”), Rev Sam went. The examiner — known for tearing apart students’ work — looked at him, complimented his tie, and said: “You look like a pastor.” When a fellow student confirmed it, the examiner said: “Since you’re a pastor, I don’t want to waste your time. In one minute, tell me what your project is about.” Before Rev Sam finished the sentence: “That’s okay, Pastor. Don’t worry — you can go now.” Project passed.
The instruction was: “Go.” The provision — a passed defense — was hidden in that instruction.
TESTIMONY 3 — THE FATHERLESS BOY, THE OIL INSTITUTE, AND UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN
Rev Sam grew up as the son of a widow. His father had brought sixteen men from the village to Lagos before leaving for the military in the 1970s — none of them showed up in the family’s hour of need. His mother’s answer to every request was: “Turn to God.”
He wanted to attend the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) — the only one in Nigeria at the time. His mother had no connection to give him. His prayer to God was simple and direct: “Father, you are not on salary. The cattle on a thousand hills belong to you. Silver and gold are yours. I am your son. I have gotten admission. The world must not hear that you could not send me to school. Open a channel.” He made it to PTI. God supplied so abundantly that he became a giver even among those who came on oil company sponsorship.
The same prayer carried him into the University of Ibadan. His personal academic supervisor — now Head of the Geology Department at that institution and a regular worshipper at TTC — still wonders at what kind of person Rev Sam is.
THE VOICE OF GOD IS YOUR ADVANTAGE THIS MONTH
There are three levels of responding to divine instruction, and only the third produces results:
- Level 1: Hearing the voice of God — but not acting. Many hear, but do not profit.
- Level 2: Acting, but too late or too early — timing is critical.
- Level 3: Corresponding action — acting at precisely the right time, with the right step. This is the level that produces miracles.
| Corresponding Action: Take one step — don’t take two. Take two — don’t take four. This is a month of absolute proximity to your Father. |
The warning of King Saul (1 Samuel 15, NKJV): God said “Wipe out all the Amalekites.” Saul spared some out of compassion and human reasoning — a partial obedience that cost him the kingdom. Corresponding action means complete obedience to the exact instruction, without adjustment.
Practical examples of corresponding action:
- If God says to apologise to your spouse in the car right after service, do it in the car — not at home. The grace for her to receive it is present now. Delay may remove it.
- If you sense a direction toward biotechnology, content creation, or hairdressing — investigate it. That may be where your destiny connection is waiting, not just a business.
- If God instructs you to leave your current sector or field, obey before human reasoning talks you out of it.
| There is a mystery connected with ‘there.’ There are many of us who have gone everywhere but ‘there.’ You know what your ‘there’ is, but you will not go there. Jesus is standing and saying: do you have any meats? — anything to show for going everywhere else?
— Rev Sam Oye |
Additional guidance for hearing God’s voice:
- Pray in the Spirit — Rev Sam prays in tongues from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily, building his spirit to be sensitive to the whispers of God.
- Read the recommended book: “The Holy Spirit — The Outpouring” (available at the church bookstore). Carry it to work; read it in free moments. Fill your mind with the things of the Spirit.
- Sheep hear the voice of their Shepherd continuously (John 10:27, NKJV) — “My sheep hear My voice” is in the present continuous tense. Hearing is a cultivated, daily relationship.
