TOPIC: SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH THROUGH THE ANOINTING (Part 1)

SERIES CONTEXT

This message is Part 1 of the series on Supernatural Breakthrough. Last Sunday’s service (by Pastor Sunday Adebamero) dealt with Supernatural Breakthrough Through Prayer. Today’s message builds on that foundation, focusing on the mystery and power of the anointing as the force that destroys every yoke.

OPENING ILLUSTRATION: THE WINNING MINDSET

Rev Sam Oye opened with a football analogy about a team that had experienced a 21-year drought, noting they finally won by recruiting players who already carried a winning mindset — people who had won before and could revive others when they were about to give up.

• Key Insight:You cannot stay yoked when you surround yourself with people who carry a breakthrough mentality.
• Application: The Transforming Church exists to give you the winning mindset — through the Word, worship, and relationship with God.

WHAT IS A YOKE?

The Hebrew word for yoke is “OL” — a wooden instrument, a bar fastened around the neck of an ox. The Greek word is “zugos”. Both describe the same reality: an instrument of bondage, control, and limitation.

A yoke is anything — any tool or device — used to control or regulate the movement and direction of a person’s life.

FUNCTIONS OF A YOKE

• To CONTROL— directs you against your will
• To REGULATE — limits your speed and potential
• To DIRECT — forces movement in a contrary direction
• To DOMINATE— exercises pressure and forced submission
• To FRUSTRATE— makes hard work produce little results
• To MANIPULATE— influences your destiny against God’s plan

TYPES OF YOKES

• Relational Yoke— An unequal partnership or marriage can become a yoke, limiting your speed and redirecting your destiny.

“Be ye not unequally yoked” (2 Corinthians 6:14, KJV) — an unbeliever can also mean a believer who does not believe in where you are going.

• Memory Yoke— Past hurts and failures that pull you back every time you try to move forward.
• Generational / Bloodline Yoke— Patterns that repeat across a family: poverty, immorality, premature death, misfortune.

Example: In David’s family, the yoke of immorality passed to Amnon, Absalom, and Solomon.

• Governmental / Leadership Yoke— Corrupt governance that keeps a nation below its God-given potential.

Rehoboam example: After Solomon, the people said “Your father placed a yoke on us.” That yoke was still operational even after Solomon’s death (1 Kings 12:4, NKJV).

• Mental / Emotional Yoke— Fear, shame, reproach, and self-doubt that prevent breakthrough.

SIGNS THAT A YOKE IS OPERATING IN YOUR LIFE

• Hard work consistently produces little or no result
• Favour appears, then mysteriously disappears
• Opportunities collapse suddenly at the point of breakthrough
• The same battles repeat over and over
• You are gifted, talented, or beautiful — yet restricted
• Near-success syndrome: getting close but never crossing the finish line
• Being intelligent, capable, or anointed, yet controlled

Many people are not lazy — they are just yoked.

KEY TRUTH: TWO STAGES OF YOKE REMOVAL

Most teaching focuses on the destruction of the yoke. But Isaiah 10:27 reveals two distinct stages:

• STAGE 1: The yoke is TAKEN OFF your neck
• STAGE 2: The yoke is DESTROYED

The yoke is not destroyed while still on your neck. First it must be removed, then it can be obliterated. Both stages are works of the anointing.

THE ANOINTING — WHAT DESTROYS THE YOKE

Thursday’s upcoming service will go deeper into the mystery of the anointing. Rev Sam previewed:

• The blood speaks— it says what the Word says. When the blood speaks what the Word says, the Spirit performs what the Word says (1 John 5:7-8, NKJV).
• The anointing will be imparted on Thursday for those going into government, business, ministry, and every sphere of life.

MEMORABLE PRINCIPLES FROM THE MESSAGE

• You cannot tell if someone carries a yoke by looking at their face. Pray for discernment before entering covenants.
• The strength of a yoke is what it is connected to — there cannot be a yoke unless you are yoked to something.
• A yoke regulates speed. You may be capable of running, but a yoke will cap how fast you go.
• Gifted but yoked. Blessed but yoked. Beautiful but yoked. The challenge with a yoke is that you cannot always see it.
• You can get it back! Esau lost his birthright as a gift, but wrestled back a birthright through battle. Years later, the blessed Jacob feared the formerly-despised Esau (Genesis 33:3, NKJV).
• The firstborn shall not become a reproach. The firstborn will not dwell under the shadow of younger ones.
• Next Sunday’s focus: the yoke of financial crisis — poverty, lack, indebtedness, always losing, always running into debt.

YOUR ACTION STEPS THIS WEEK

• Identify the yoke by name:What has been placed on your neck to regulate your rise? Poverty? Fear? Shame? A painful memory? Name it.
• Declare with your mouth:“This yoke must come off my neck. You cannot limit me. You cannot regulate me.”
• Pray specifically over your firstborn children and yourself as a firstborn if applicable.
