Topic: The Wonders in the Name of Jesus!

Without the fear of any kind of contradiction, the name of Jesus is the most powerful name on earth. Yahweh used to be the most revered name until the proclamation in Philippians 2:9-10 that wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. Names are considered powerful as a result of 3 major reasons.

  1. Because it is a name given by someone whose name is already very famous. So, if a famous person transfers his name to you, the honour men give to the person is transferred to you. So, we say the name is powerful by inheritance, the name is powerful by transfer. The reason why anyone would regard or defer to a name when called or mentioned is because of the weight behind the name. This is why the fact that your ancestors has no weight attached to their name, regardless of their exploits, you would have to prove yourself and generate some authority, respect or weight so that your children can now enjoy the benefit of the sacrifice of their father. This is why your greatest asset is your name. Your honour is in your name. This accounts for why the name JESUS as given by God is the most important thing conferred on Jesus by God the father.

What is the worth of your name? What doors can your name open? When your name is mentioned, what comes to people’s minds? If you give your children your name and they walk around or move to places, what weight is behind the name. Can your children find favour in strange lands because they bear your name? Young men, fight for your name, it is your greatest asset. Isn’t it amazing that although God gave Jesus everything, the crowning gift was the name JESUS.

  1. The power of a name also comes from achievements. You can honour a child because of his father’s name but to honour the said child for his own sake, such a child must set out to make tremendous achievement so that his own name can draw as much weight and regard as his father’s name had previously conferred on him. So, the name of Jesus is not only powerful because it was given by God, but because Jesus earned it. Not only was he crucified for our sake, He went to grave, to hell in order to retrieve keys stolen by the enemy. He personally defeated principalities and power. This is why if you were not bequeathed a name that can command certain kind of respect or authority, by your own achievements, you can earn yourself a name.

  1. Names are powerful by the reason of conferment. The father, Almighty God bestowed it upon him. Colossians 2:15- And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. By this same principle, Jesus conferred this name to us before leaving. This is why it is the so powerful. So much so that it still does wonders till this day. The investment of His greatness as Jesus is cemented in His name. Let the name of Jesus become your access to exploits that the name can create for you.
