How to Trigger the Power of God through the Touch of Jesus {Part 1}
By Rev Sam Oye
 Luke 7: 11 – 15 (KJV)
11 “And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.”
As you read your New Testament, there are two types of ‘touch’ that you will find in the New Testament. Both are very powerful as you look at them.
People touched Jesus or the touch on Jesus.
The touch of Jesus.
In every situation, you’ll find a case whereby someone is touching Jesus or He is touching someone. Either way, there is always a miracle. Jesus also goes beyond schedule sometimes to touch people.
If you look into the Word of God, you’ll find cases where people just touched Jesus and as they touched Him, miracles just happened.
Mark 6: 56 (TPT)
56. Wherever he went, in the countryside, villages, or towns, they placed the sick on mats in the streets or in public places and begged him, saying, “Just let us touch the tassel of your prayer shawl!”  And all who touched him were instantly healed!
They you, ‘let us touch not you, we just want to touch anything touching you’. It is so powerful. The Bible says that everywhere Jesus went, He was always dressed in a prayer shawl. When you hear the woman touched the helm of His garment, what the Bible was talking about was the tassels of his prayer shawl. She didn’t have to touch Him; she only had to touch what was touching Him. This means that you really do not need to touch the Man of God. If you can touch anything touching the man of God, you will be touching the same thing that is on the man.
Can I prove that to you? The Bible says that let us touch the tassels of the prayer shawls. Look at the statement that follows – “who touched what?” What were they out to touch? There is something about touching the Lord with your faith. There is something about stretching your faith to touch the Lord. This is why the Bible says all who touched Him were instantly healed.
Luke 8: 45 – 46 (TPT)
45 Jesus suddenly stopped and said to his disciples, “Someone touched me. Who was it?” While they all denied it, Peter pointed out, “Master, everyone is touching you, trying to get close to you. The crowds are so thick we can’t walk through all these people without being jostled.”
46 Jesus replied, “Yes, but I felt power surge through me. Someone touched me to be healed, and they received their healing.”
Remember the scripture read before, the Bible says they wanted to touch the tassels and all who touched the tassels touched Him. I wish you would catch this today. If you get this today, you’ll come to a place in your faith where all you just need to do is pick out your handkerchief and say, ‘Pastor just bless this for me’. You’ll walk out of that place and won’t need the Pastor again because everything on the pastor is what you carry in your hands.
It’s the way the anointing works. One thing you need to understand about the anointing is that it is transferrable and transmittable. The woman didn’t touch Him, she only touched something that has touched him.
Jesus said someone touched him to be healed. There was a clear intentionality behind it. This is not about everyone touching you, this is about someone touching with an expectation and clear intention. It’s not just about coming to church, sitting like everybody and occupying space. You have to come to church with the expectation to receive something from the Lord. The amazing thing is that Jesus said he is aware of those touching Him without expectation. The one He was talking about is someone touching Him with a clear expectation. So, every Sunday, the power to heal; to touch and change your life is in the service.
The only difference between the ones that work out changed and those that don’t work out changed is expectation. Someone once said to me when I was growing in my Christian Faith that “expect nothing, have nothing”.  This means that if you come to the presence of God expecting nothing, you will walk away with nothing. If you can touch Him today with your faith, you can receive, and it is so instant.
You find out that when people touch Him, things happen. However, the one I love the most is when Jesus touches us. In trying to figure out the difference between those that touch Him and the ones He touched, I found out that most of the ones who touched Him were people whose situations permit them to still exercise their faith. For the woman still bleeding, she still had the power to exercise her will. In cases where He touched  people, you discover in those cases, people have lost the right or ability to exercise their will. Regardless of which category we fall into, Jesus can always touch us.
Matthew 8: 15 (TPT)
“The moment Jesus touched her hand she was healed! Immediately she got up and began to make dinner for them.”
It’s not all the time that God responds because we pray. In most cases, God shows up because of His mercy. Most of the things God has done in our lives is not because we prayed; it is not our prayer life that has brought us to where we are. We are recipients of the mercies of God. It’s a mystery the moment you begin to think you deserve it, that’s when God will show that you don’t qualify for it. Righteousness is advantageous. However, your faith is not in your righteousness. The moment you begin to trust in your righteousness as a basis God should honor you, it is the reason you will not be answered. There is a touch that comes with the mercy of God.
