Bible Text: Matthew 22:35-40 “One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Love is the foundation of Christianity. Christianity was born out of love. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son”. Without love, we wouldn’t have the saviour. The greatest force in Christianity is the force of love. If you walk in love, you’ll automatically fulfill the other commandments.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:13 “Three things will last forever- faith, hope, and love. The greatest of these is love. As powerful as Faith is, love is greater. Every spiritual principle is impotent without love. Galatians 5:6 also says “All that matters is faith, expressed through love”.
Your weight in the spirit realm is not measured by tongues. 1st Corinthians 13:1 says “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal” Therefore, our spiritual weight is determined by how much love we have.
If you have love you have God because God abides in us if we love one another. He who does not love does not know God. The love of God constrains us. If we walk in love, we wouldn’t even harm our enemies when we have the chance or power to. David showed this practical example of love when he had the chance to harm Saul but he showed love instead. Can you restrain from seeking revenge when the opportunity is available? The mission of love is loving the unlovable. Walking in love immunes you from attack. Solomon loved the Lord and he was immune from fighting battles throughout his life. We must learn to let go and let God.
One of the reasons why Jesus walked in signs and wonders was because He walked in love not just because He was the son of God. In Mark 8:2 Jesus said “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat.” Love and compassion for others is the key to seeing Signs and Wonders. The proof of compassion is Prayer. If you love people, you will pray for them. Loving God and loving others can change your story.
