YEAR OF FLOURISHING AND THRIVING SUPERNATURALLY
Minister: Pastor Sunday Adebamiro
Text: Proverbs 4: 5 – 7 (NKJV)
Topic: FLOURISHING AND THRIVING THROUGH WISDOM
“Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”
There is a yardstick for recognizing wisdom in the lives of people. Wise people care, they have control, they do not misbehave, they weigh every actions before embarking on it, they are decisive, they know what to do and how to go ahead with it, and they do what they need to do. Wise people, as well, accommodate differences in people and they practice reflection.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WISDOM OF GOD
- Wisdom of God is multifaceted, (many sided):
Ephesians 3: 10 (NKJV)
“to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the Heavenly places,”
The wisdom of God deals with every aspect of life. If there is any problem in your life, then you lack the wisdom of God in that area.
- Wisdom is the principal thing:It makes things to work. Without wisdom, anointing will lead to destruction. Without wisdom, faith leads to frustration. David was not just anointed, but he had wisdom as well. He did not just embark on things on his own because he had the might, but he will always inquire first from the Lord. Also, he was able to manage Saul, who had the spirit of a lunatic.
- Wisdom is profitable for direction:It provides solution and therefore eliminates frustration. Wisdom gives the ability to know what to do per time under every situation; that you do not know a way out does not mean there is no way out.
- Wisdom is the ability to know the difference:Wisdom gives the understanding of differences in timing, gifts, talents, calling, abilities, etc. A man or woman of wisdom does not just know what to do, but they have the understanding of what to do, when to do it and how to do it at the right time.
2 Kings 5: 25 – 26 (NKJV)
“Now he went in and stood before his master. Elisha said to him, “Where did you go, Gehazi?” And he said, “Your servant did not go anywhere.” Then he said to him, “Did not my heart go with you when the man turned back from his chariot to meet you? Is it time to receive money and to receive clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male and female servants?”
Elisha was still building the reputation of his ministry, but his servant Gehazi lacked the wisdom to recognize this. It is not about receiving money or gifts, but receiving them at the right time and from the right person. There are gifts or money that should not be accepted at a certain period of one’s life. Wisdom helps you to know what to take or get at the right time. In essence, it helps you understand timing.
There are differences in season; a season to plant and a season to reap. Do whatever needs to be done in the planting season, so as to reap abundance in the season of harvest. Wisdom gives the ability of setting the right priorities, it is the ability to delay gratification.
One of the things the Bible calls foolishness is comparison. Wisdom identifies that there are differences in timing. Focus on what God has given to you and stop getting distracted by what others have or are doing.
- Wisdom produces tangible result:
Mark 6: 2 (NKJV)
“And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands!”
The proof of wisdom is the result it produces. We know that Jesus is full of wisdom by the mighty works He performed. Do not claim you are wise if there are no fruits of wisdom in your life.
Luke 7:35 (NKJV)
“But wisdom is justified by all her children.”
For instance if you are wise in your finances or career, the results should reflect in what it produces.
Psalm 104: 24 (NKJV)
“O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions”
The wisdom of God was seen in everything He made. The difference in nations depend on the results they produce through wisdom.
- Wisdom gives you rest:King Solomon had rest during his reign due to wisdom. He had no reason to go to war with his neighboring nations and he was able to build a temple for the Lord. The reason most people do not build is because they are busy fighting battles, and they have no rest.
Proverbs 24: 3 (NKJV)
“Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established;”
The spirit of wisdom is transferable. It sharpens up your discernment.
