Mark 9: 14-29
One of the things I was taught very early in my Christian walk is fasting and prayer. My mother made it very rewarding. She made sure she cooked something extra to compensate me for the fast. It used to be hard to combine prayers with the fasting when she later introduced prayers to the fasting. Such was my journey until one day I heard a statement that changed my life, it said, ‘man fell because man ate, man was redeemed because the last Adam fasted’. And this stuck with me.
So, while the last Adam began his journey with fasting, the first began with eating. If you want to change the trajectory of your life, embrace the culture of fasting and prayer. Later I got introduced to something else called living a fasted life, meaning at any time, you are on call. You could wake up in the morning and want to eat and the Lord will say let it go.
As I began to pray and fast, I began to catch frequencies that were not available to my friends. I began to open the Bible and I began to have insights into the scripture like I have never seen. As young as the age of 15, I was already experiencing the demonstration of the power of God in my life. I began to get involved in deliverances with senior ministers. I remember I was 15 when I walked up to Pst. Andy Obida, I summoned the courage to tell him I want to experience the demonstration of God’s power. He told me to give up food and I told him I was ready.
The absence of Jesus in your ministry or career or business is the reason why certain dimensions of breakthrough cannot be ascertained. You may but Pastor Sam, what about unbelievers who runs similar businesses but don’t have Christ? Let me tell you, although Ishmael is not Isaac, Ismael was also a son of Abraham, and he was also blessed. And here is how it works; God will give an unbeliever result in order to bring the unbeliever to him. Romans 2:4- Or despises thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
So, God does good things for unsaved people in order to bring them to a good God. But for a child of God, you must learn the principles of your father in order to get results. So, Jesus in teaching us a lesson, said that without Him, we can do nothing. When the disciples asked Him why they couldn’t deliver the boy brought to them, He replied that This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting- (Mark 9:29).
Fasting and prayer increases your authority in the spiritual realm. Food makes you heavy in the physical world based usually on the volume of food consumed. When you fast, you loose weight in the physical and gain weight spiritually.
Don’t just carry money, carry grace. Come back to the place of prayer, leverage your advantage and walk in authority.
