The Wonders of God's Presence 2 BY Rev Sam Oye

(2nd Service)
Genesis 39: 1-12
In the first service, I talked about how the presence of God guarantees rest. We discovered that the greatest desire of all mortal is to find rest. What is hoped for the deceased is to REST in peace. So, when you buy a car, build a house, get married or even the pursuit of money is done only as a means to getting rest, that is not the kind of rest I’m talking about. Amazingly, there have been so many people who acquired houses, wealth, money only to discover that they still cannot find rest. The simple reason is because rest is not in material things. It is in God. This is why the Bible says in Matthew 11:38 – Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Rest therefore is a gift.
One thing I would like you to know is that although we are all Christians and all children of God, we all don’t enjoy equal level of rest. One of the things that God’s presence does to us is that it prospers us. It is remarkable that the confidence every mortal has always hinges on the knowledge of the presence of a divine being.
Please not that life is more spiritual than it is physical. In actual fact, the spiritual controls the physical. Even as a Christian, coming to church today is not because you simply wish to, it is because you are drawn to church. John 6:44- No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Three kinds of people in this world.
Those who are hiding from the presence of God.
They do their utmost best to run from God and can hardly be seen trying to spend time with God.
(Gen 3:8) And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
This category of people are usually kept back from God by their secret sins.
Those who are driven away from the presence of God- (Gen 4:3-12). This often happens as a consequence of a grave wrong.
